Abbotsford Convent Catering Services Tender Opportunity 2026

Perfectly Paired is proud to partner with the Abbotsford Convent Foundation (ACF) to deliver the Catering Services Tender for one of Melbourne’s most significant cultural destinations. The Convent is a place defined by history, creativity and community, and this tender marks the beginning of a new chapter for how events will be experienced across the precinct.
Set across 16 acres of heritage buildings, gardens and creative studios, Abbotsford Convent is a cultural village shaped by the people who gather, create, learn and celebrate there every day. Hospitality plays a vital role in that experience, and the upcoming partnership will help elevate events, enhance visitor engagement and support the precinct’s not for profit purpose.
A place shaped by heritage, imagination and community
What began in the 1860s as the largest charitable institution in the Southern Hemisphere is now Australia’s largest multi-arts precinct. Saved from commercial redevelopment through community effort, the Convent is now home to more than 120 artists, makers, social enterprises and cultural practitioners. Its annual program includes festivals, exhibitions, performances, workshops, markets and events that engage more than a 700,000 visitors each year.
This catering services tender aligns strongly with ACF’s strategic priorities for 2025–2028, which focus on growing brand value, deepening community engagement, strengthening partnerships and expanding audience-centric programs . Hospitality is central to this vision, playing an active role in how people experience, learn and connect across the precinct.
Income from events is reinvested into conservation, cultural programming and community benefit. As such, the catering partnership must balance commercial opportunity with genuine community access, ensuring the precinct remains inclusive, culturally rich and grounded in ACF’s values.

What ACF is seeking
ACF is inviting proposals from catering partners who understand how to bring hospitality, culture and community into alignment. Success will be defined by the ability to:
Bring the precinct to life through distinctive, memorable and culturally connected events
Balance community and commercial outcomes, ensuring not for profit, arts and community partners remain supported through ACF’s Reserved Rights
Deliver hospitality that is elevated, approachable and reflective of the Convent’s character
Embed within the precinct community, collaborating with tenants, artists and program partners
Drive sustainable commercial growth across weddings, conferences, festivals and community events
Celebrate the setting by enhancing, not competing with, the Convent’s heritage and creative energy
Demonstrate alignment with ACF’s values of creativity, inclusivity, sustainability and social responsibility
These expectations support ACF’s broader strategic outcomes, including innovation, First Peoples engagement, accessibility and long-term precinct development.

A precinct-wide opportunity
For the first time, the catering partner will have access to the full breadth of Abbotsford Convent’s event spaces. This includes grand heritage halls, chapels, meeting rooms, courtyards, gardens and open-air sites. The scale and flexibility of the precinct allow for:
Conferences with multi-zone programming
Weddings and celebrations with seamless onsite flow
Community gatherings and not for profit events
Cultural festivals and seasonal programs
Workshops, markets and creative learning experiences
The partnership includes a collaborative sales and marketing model, shared calendar visibility and joint planning to ensure commercial activity supports, not competes with, cultural and community programming.
A tiered event-access approach provides flexibility for cultural, community and not for profit partners. This includes the ability to incorporate culturally specific catering or community-led food activations under ACF’s oversight.

A partnership built on collaboration
Perfectly Paired is working closely with ACF to deliver a process that champions collaboration, strengthens precinct outcomes and attracts an operator who will partner with ACF in all the right ways.
This opportunity is about more than delivering events. It is about forming a partnership that amplifies the Convent’s role as a place where creativity, community and celebration come together.
